Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of India Chip Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between HCL Group and Foxconn, in Jewar, Greater Noida. The ₹3,700 crore semiconductor OSAT facility is expected to become operational by 2028 and produce up to 3.6 crore chips per month at full capacity.The plant will process 20,000 wafers per month and manufacture display driver chips, strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem and reducing dependence on global supply chains exposed during the Covid-19 crisis.Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, HCL Chairperson Roshni Nadar, and Foxconn Semiconductor Business Group President Bob Chen attended the groundbreaking ceremony.The project is expected to generate over 3,500 jobs and position Uttar Pradesh as a major semiconductor and electronics manufacturing hub.
