The education ministry had, two years ago, initiated a review of all collaborations between Confucius centres and Indian institutes following the standoff along the Line of Actual Control. The Confucius institutes (CIs) have come under a cloud for alleged influence over host institutions, propaganda and even suspicions of espionage elsewhere too.
