Sensex gains in early trade, Nifty tops 16,300; Voda Idea jumps 4%, Future group stocks plunge up to 10%

The S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 215 points to touch 54,492.81 in the first few minutes of trade, and the broader NSE Nifty50 benchmark climbed to as high as 16,304.20, up 65 points from its previous close.
